Race #4 — Cuyuna Lakes MTB Area

October 3–4, 2026 · 2026 MCA Season · Race #4 of 5

The 2026 race season rolls into Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area for RAC MTB’s fourth race of the year. Cuyuna is one of the most celebrated trail systems in the Midwest — flowing singletrack carved through old iron mine terrain, with enough technical challenge to test every rider and enough scenery to keep the fans on their feet. Middle schoolers tackled the course Saturday while high schoolers took their turn Sunday.

Saturday brought steady rain from the start, and by the time our 8th Grade Boys hit the course at the end of the day, Cuyuna had turned into a full-on mud bath — bikes caked, legs unrecognizable, and grins ear to ear. Somehow, that made it even better. The Bobsled trail was an absolute blast, with the downhill berms sending riders flying through the corners in the best possible way — ask most of the RAC MTB riders and they’ll tell you: Cuyuna 2026 was the team’s favorite race of the season, mud and all.
