What’s New

2024 Race Season

With a rainy start to the practice season and just as many cement trail rides as dirt, the team had a great time on bikes no matter where! New and returning riders practiced skills and increased confidence while building friendships. Our racers really put it all out there this year, too! Congrats to our podium winners Ryan and Bennett!

La Familia

Be sure to check out our Instagram and Facebook feeds – we do the majority of our updates there. The one thing that stands out about our group of people is that we truly become a family. This is evident in the relationships we build by biking together. We come together as one and cheer each other on whether our goal is to finish the race or win the race.

End of Season Gathering

It’s always bittersweet to gather at the end of the year for the end of season gathering. We met at Autumn Grove park and had a pot luck. The families got together to thank Rich and Sara Fish for their past 6 years of coaching as head coaches, as they pass the baton to Cindy and Chris Shaffner to head things up. We gave out senior awards (rubber chickens!!!!), coaches gifts, team voted awards, and a medal to Henry R for finishing 2nd in the Senior Open race. We look forward to seeing one another outside in the near future. Thanks for a great year!!!! Keep an eye out for updated pictures here as we get time to add them.

Did you know it takes hundreds of volunteers to put on a race? Coach Dwight killing it!!!

STATE!!!!

State was at Mankato this year and the top 100 per category qualified to race. Weather was much better than last year’s snow with pre-ride being cancelled due to rain. Thankfully the did not have to re-route the course and the kids could race. Some of the kids had outstanding performances and we are proud of all of them for giving their all. The kids who made state got custom names on their bikes as an extra reward for making it. Gotta love having a Cricut to do fun things like this. Check out our Facebook and Instagram sites for pics.

Detroit Mountain Results

In complete opposite weather from Spirit Mountain it was hot and sunny. It was onesie weekend but we were too hot to keep them on for long except coach Mike who rocked Pikachu all day!!!!! Jonathan and Owen raced for 6th grade boys, Allison and Fern for 8th grade girls, and Bennett and Henry for 8th grade boys. They kids started and finished on a hill and gave it their all. On Sunday the high schoolers got out there and Oscar and Ian had their best finishes of the season. Billie cruised up the hill and started her wave in 4th place (she started from the third row!). Henry had a tire issue after the start so had to do a bike swap but finished all 4 laps of his varsity race showing true grit. The JV2 boys finished the day with Simon, Will, Rikelor, Charley and Lukas all racing. Rikelor is a hill climbing machine and Will went from the front of the pack to the back of the pack after a tree got his shoe (he had to go back to get it) and then fought his way to 24th. Way to go team!!!

Spirit Mountain Results

Middle schoolers were able to race in very foggy conditions at Spirit Mountain, but sadly, after 6″ of rain the high school race was cancelled on Sunday morning. Owen and Jonathan represented for the 6th grade boys, Carlos Mateo for 7th grade boys, Bennett and Henry for 8th grade boys. Bennet was hit on the starting line but persevered and finished his race. All the boys came back muddy but had a good time.
